About Us

Dr. Richards graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1979. He practiced veterinary medicine until 2018. During that time he was director of the PetCare Forum on A.O.L. in the 1990s.  Moving on from there he established a website, VetInfo.com with the assistance of Michal Justis. They ran the website until 2007 when a series of serious health issues made it necessary to sell it. During the time they ran the site it was the Popular Computing Website of the Month in October of 2005. Dr. Richards has written for several veterinary publications and is now working on a series of short stories about his career, which included large animal practice, small animal practice, exotic animal practice and his online work.  Practicing in a small rural community in Virginia and serving the needs of diverse clients and patients led to many interesting situations, some of them amusing, some of them tense and some of them simply confounding. Some of these stories will be published here and hopefully a book will come from the rest. We will of course announce it here if this comes to fruitition. Being slightly opinionated on many subjects other than veterinary medicine, Dr. Richards will also occasionally provide his opinion on the state of the world.

Opinionated

I don't know enough about anything outside of veterinary medicine to be considered an expert but it doesn't keep me from having opinions --  I do try to make sure they are factual and reasonable, though.

Information is checked against fact-checking websites and an effort is made to check several places to ensure that reported information is real. There is so much mis-information on the internet that it is probably impossible not to occasionally make the mistake of accepting some of it.  Correct me is you wish but provide references if you do.
